I dont get why there's so much hype on the internet whenever some old franchise is resurected by a completely different dev. Its like saying there's a new Nirvana album coming out only its Muse who is making it.

For me the appeal is a decent developer like Larian capable of making a Turn based RPG (DOS1, DO2 was shit) with good combat, but with limitations imposed by the franchise to their usual flaws:

- Ruleset and character progression.
- Tone. (I don't care a lot for the story but I hope at least there aren't so many offputting cheesy dialogs).
- Art design.

One is appeal to specific credibility of experience and knowledge, the other appeal to a "personality".

It's still "who he is" and "what he knows". Neither makes him infallible or necessarily correct. "He knows a lot" is not any sort of retort or argument, which is exactly what you put forth, as a response to "what he says makes no sense"

"He knows a lot!"

and

"He's a person who knows a lot!"

Are the same fucking point.

Two different things, unless youre insane.

Neither makes him infallible or necessarily correct.
Oh look! A strawman! Havent seen one of those in a while... gucci, gucci, gucci, gu, gu!

"He knows a lot" is not any sort of retort or argument, which is exactly what you put forth, as a response to "what he says makes no sense"
No, i put forth the argument that since he is very knwoeldgable about RPGs and also has correct and proper ideas about RPGs, one should not jump to conclusions how he made a dumb mistake of "something that only those two posters are thinking" based on their interpretation of his reasons for saying what he said. Which they cannot know.
All things being equal in that regard, since i also dont know, considering his extensive knowledge and proper thinking about RPGs - it would a safer bet to assume he was adressing the games reception and popularity.
Which also makes much more sense in the context of both tweats that were quoted.

"He knows a lot!"
and
"He's a person who knows a lot!"

Are the same fucking point.
NnnAaahhh.... kinda almost not. But that wasnt the term used at all, matey.
It was only "who he is". Not "Hes a person who knows a lot". Three words are not the same as seven words. I bet.

edit:

Yes, you seem to be a retarded shit. Indeed.
That is correct.

btw, that music sounds more like one of the background tunes then the main score of the game opening.

Yeah, the music sounds cool for a background moody tune.
And are those Evard's black tentacles?

The tentacles are probably more than a reference to some arbitrary spell.

Is there any particular sea monster or tentacle monster that's a big thing in recent FR lore?

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/blackTentacles.htm

This spell conjures a field of rubbery black tentacles, each 10 feet long. These waving members seem to spring forth from the earth, floor, or whatever surface is underfoot—including water. They grasp and entwine around creatures that enter the area, holding them fast and crushing them with great strength.

Material Component
A piece of tentacle from a giant octopus or a giant squid.

Black rubbery definitely fits.

Yet, Pathfinder Kingmaker doesn't feel particularly souless. Nor PoE was destined to be... whatever it turned out to be solely due to the historical context where it appeared.

Zeitgeist is only relevant when talking about things that capture mainstream attention, which Kingmaker definitely did not. I know many Codexers love it (and I can't wait to play it) but I'd guess Larian have larger goals for this IP.
Kingmaker did not, but that's ok. I'm arguing about the "souless" part.

Agree, it will be a sequel in name only. That being said a D&D ruleset (any is fine with me) set in the forgotten realms mystara, greyhawk or dragonlance would be cool with me. It's been quite a while since a decent D&D CRPG so Larian doing that turn based in the divinity OS engine has a good chance of being quite good I think.
