pretty sure I'm near the end of early access content and didn't experience basically any of the shit you guys have been crying about for pages
really good, can't wait for the full game

Having a short time limit would make casters dogshit worthless. All you'd be able to do is use cantrips.
As i said, they could make so that you get some shit happen that lets you block the worms till you find a real help later on. Running around for months while nothing happens is stupid, especially when everyone is constantly bitching about not doing it fast enough.
maybe you should play the game before commenting

Having a discussion with a friend, and we can't come to term how it works.

Skill checks in game, are they always a 1-20 roll? Can the difficulty get higher than 20? Like if the computer rolls 10, then there is a 10+ because of the difficulty of check, or is it always something between 1-20?
I believe that the difficulty get subtracted by your skills. For example if you have task with difficulty of 10,but you have +3 in dex and +2 in specialization, the difficulty level becomes 5.

Yeah, I know that, but I wonder, if it ever can get higher than a 20 roll. Because the discussion we are having, is that I find it pretty silly that my dumb as rock dwarf can figure out arcana things, and he excuse that with that it's just a simple roll in the beginning of the game, and later on it will get much tougher. But I have not seen any indication on that from the time I have been playing.
The highest checks I saw were 20s, so I assume the checks themselves can be much higher but after the bonuses have been subtracted it gets capped to 20.

She a sassy,bossy,feisty queen yo!

I am generally a companion's guy that fucks every woman possible in those types of games.

Fantadomat, I like you and consider you a friend but that is the future virtual mother of my children and pending video game wife you're talking about here, pal.

So I suggest you don't ask for these hands because ya just might get 'em, ehehehehehe.

Spider fell for priestess of Shar eh? How traditional.

You know you blasted Codexers really make me surly and foul. You all act like you're SOOO ABOOOVE the elf girls and Shar worshipers but I know if you were in MY position you'd be ready to tame and claim. And I didn't "FALL" for anyone. She's going to fall for ME. Okay, buckaroo? Heh. I call the shots. This is BG3. I paid $70 for this game. This is MY game, the game does not run me.

Now if you'll excuse me I think Broodmama needs help lightening her backpack of all the stuff I thoughtlessly threw in there over the past hour. Don't want her to feel discomfort. I'm in perfect control.

There's a lot of stuff that's easy to miss, including entire areas.
Going back through again and I've already found a good bit of stuff I missed my first time through.

Yeah you can find a lot of stuff by jumping around. They should implement some kind of "jump all" button so you don't have to give the order individually.

That and climbing. The new "climb on" feature of boxes(along with climbing on the environment) is really nice. Having a lot of fun just exploring areas.

There's a chest in the druid grove on top of one of the pillars way, way high up.
I completely missed the harpy area

[edit] keep finding new areas, convinced the entire map can be uncovered at this point. If you have any black on your map that isn't sea area then there's probably a way to get there somehow.

After taking a break, I beat the phase spider queen at level 3 lol.

It killed me a couple of times, but it was far from impossible.

People should at least acknowledge that if it's a flaw, it's a flaw with 5e.

I think the common use of skill rolls to solve problems was something that started in 3e, personally. Though 3e also had a better system for it.

Most DMs aren't gonna let you solve problems by choosing "the correct conversation option". It's either apply your skills, enter combat, or get creative.

low level D&D is always very rng heavy, at best you're getting maybe +3 or +4 bonuses at this level if you double dip on ability score + skill or something

Yeah the exploration is pretty good, shame that the rewards are shit,like....more tedious broken combat. Found a secret area with two spiders and two efcaps or whateva their names is. It was the most miserable combat i have seen. They were level 2 spiders with 40ish hp,that could just teleport around and spam 10+ damage area of effect that gives you poison/acid on top of the the 10 damage. It is the typical larian garbage combat filled with 20 types of effect terrain. Every enemy has a bunch of items that do fire/acid/ice/electricity etc etc type of are of effects damage, after the first turn half your party is dead or burning and the map looks like shit. Unlike dos games, here you have like 20 hp,thus the party dies in two turns tops. You have to be really cheap and stealthy to even have the smallest chance of killing shit, shame that the whole ordeal is tedious because of bad UI. I am depressed at how frequent i just decide to fuck off because the combat feels cheap and retarded. Also all the initiative shit is broken beyond believe because the combat area shit, meaning that most times your companions sit and watch the combat being outside of the combat zone. Also fucking dialogue with enemies really kills any plans you have for the combat. You position your party, you even make the manual turn based shit to give you a bonus round, then you attack......and the enemy decide to tell you that you are fighting now and restarts the initiative and the enemy looses all the surprise debuffs.

That's not what I don't like about it. I don't like that the rolls aren't hard enough for the stats to make a difference. A negative for not having the skill should at least apply.

Wish I could punch Sven right in the fucking liver, as hard as possible. That would straighen him out a little, hopefully - I'm lacking any other ressource to make him miserable in the short term, so the liver shot has to be the solution. BAM. I see him crawl on the floor in shock and pain, and it brings me great joy.

I like low-magic rewards in the early game. I hate games like NWN where monsters seem to poop +1 swords 30 minutes in.

Git gud.

I easily defeated them at level 3 and then went on to defeat the phase spider queen, still at level 3.

You're upset that you can't bypass the initiative roll at the start of combat? lol

The max level is 4, and I was 3 at the time.
If you didn't notice she always prefers phasing onto the webs. Hit the webs with something(e.g., firebolt cantrip) to cause them to break, she falls to the ground taking a lot of damage. Hope that helps you git gud.

Reminder that all of these poser devs used to post and or lurk here back in the day before WOKE became fashionable.

I seem to remember they had no problem taking our money or other contributions back in the day.

They even gave me D:OS for free because I won a contest here years ago.
