Most UI's in this game - TRASH. They give to much space to eye candy and missing on usability( prime example lvl up screen)

This is gonna get so fucky when we get 5-6 level spell slots. You can upcast every spell, most of them have beneficial effects for doing so.
So with level 6 spell slots you will have 6 different versions of magic missile. The hotbar is decidedly not big enough for that.

Is it really dumb though?

Was Fallout 2 a direct sequel to Fallout 1? Did it continue the same story with the same character? Was the villain the same? Did you start in a vault?

I 100% understand not wanting Oblivion with guns as the new “fallout” a decade later, but it’s been 20 years and these goys actually expect to import their save game and continue BG2 from where they left off or what?

Be pissed off about any number of things if you want, idc. But be reasonable.

Allow me to quote from one of the wisest men I know:

It's not, and no plot hook or miniature giant space hamster is going to change that. Videogames are described by their gameplay first and narrative second. If Obsidian came along to continue TNO's story with a game where you play Carmageddon in the Blood War, that wouldn't make it a sequel to Planescape: Torment. You can argue this game's D&D credentials all you want, but they didn't call it "Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition", they called it "Baldur's Gate 3", yet it's not even in the same subgenre. Like it or not, PFKM is more faithful to what the old BG games were merely by virtue of it being isometric RTwP.

BG3 will be to the Baldur's Gate series what Fallout 3 was to your precious Fallouts. Bethesda came along, liked the potential in the Fallout IP but reasoned that they had experience and success in the more popular Action-RPG segment, so they refactored the property into Oblivion-with-Guns while also giving the Codex a case of perennial hemorrhoids as an added bonus. While the gap between an ARPG and a TB CRPG is indeed significantly greater than between a TB CRPG and a RTwP CRPG, the core issue is the same in that BG3 will play very differently from how BG played.

A big difference to Bethesda's Fallout run is, as mentioned before, that WotC did have space to pull a fast one by launching a new franchise and using "Baldur's Gate" as a subtitle, with the benefit of future versatility as well. That they instead went all out to just call it Baldur's Gate 3, especially since the Bhaalspawn saga was adequately concluded and BG2 comes with plenty of continuity baggage, comes across as a curious lack of confidence in their D&D brand given all their recent success with streaming and such.

None of this is to say that BG3 won't be a good RPG, just that it's not Baldur's Gate.

As for the recurring bitching... Can't speak for anyone else, I'm interested in this "Baldur's Gate 3" but I want to wait for Gold, so I gotta do something to pass the time.

As if this wasn't bad enough we're also constrained to only being able to have one hotbar visibible at a time. They really should just implement a spell level tab/category that lets you pick between the various spells (that you have slotted of course) in each tier. POE has it, PFK has it, so why does Larian insist on following their own design choices and not including one?

There's probably an unannounced ranger premade. All of the other classes are there because those are premade character classes.

It's either that or because Larian (or possibly even WOTC) wants feedback on the revisions they've done to Rangers.
In one of the first pre-release videos they did mention that they were working with WOTC on developing and implementing a more video game friendly iteration of the class.

Fighter/Rogue's the archer class. Ranger's the archer class if you want to suck at combat.

Also besides Sor, you know what's missing? Barbarian and Paladin. The best melee classes in 5e.

sorcerers are good

all magics are good

fighters are for hauling baggage

but aragorn was a ranger and people like dogs ok
