i perceive the money i gave for the EE versions as an investment, which will pay off when Baldurs Gate 3 comes out.

Like we need a BG3 made by those fuckers.

I'm still mystified why Codextards still bother with this Beamdog shit. All you need to "fix" the originals (if fix them you must) is Sword Coast Stratagems plus Tutu (with original UI and original sprites mods) for BG1 if you want to play it on the new engine (fuck BG trilogy, just keep the two games separate). That's it. All the shit i've seen from the EEs is questionable at best and complete shit at worst. And this "expansion" looks to be a fucking disgrace as well.

And now i'm reading they don't even sell the originals on GoG anymore. Are you fucking kidding me. :hmmm:

I'm actually really surprise you're even a fan of BG. In fact, up until now, I didn't even know you liked anything other than classical music/jazz and racial supremacy. What a twist!

EDIT: Oh, and also the occasional serial murder dressed up in a weird costume. I'm trying very hard to make Lyric Suite is the Zodiac killer into a thing, please, Codex, don't let my memes be dreams.

Wait, can you kill that character without reputation loss? This is outrageous. So intolerant of Beamdog. I demand in the next patch they make killing her cause 10 points of reputation loss or end the game directly.

I'm anti-decline more than i am a "fan" of anything.

I too get very upset when a random NPC that's about as important to anything as the leather codpiece I found on a goblin five levels ago says he or she got a sex change in a world where the magic to do that shit is so common that a belt that changes your gender is sent around as a gag to fuck with people.

Oh wait no I don't because I'm not an insane faggot obsessed with internet identity politics.

You and your kind need to just keep your weird fetishes to the google search bar. They don't actually add anything to games and only serve to detract from them in 99% of cases.

It's like the backer NPCs in PoE. Technically, you don't have to read that horrible shit, but they still detract from the game.

I wish it were used more. Divinity Original Sin and Shadowrun have such superior looking character models compared to other Kickstarter RPGs and neither looks like the other despite both being cartoony.
Shadowrun looks especially good, considering the ridiculously low budget HBS had to work with. They have some good artists working there.

By the way did you read the part that they want to make EEs for Fallout 1 and 2? :M

the only problem i would imagine here would be the pricing,i would be happy with a price of 5-10 euros on release anything else above that is borderline ripoff.

lol I like how Ezrite barged into this thread with NEWS FROM 4CHAN and turned it into a complete shitshow overnight

How many people here are actually playing the game? Seems like if it's not a Kickstarter where the entire Codex hops on board and gets the game simultaneously, there's a problem getting a decent sample size of impressions.

People reaction is blown up out of proportion, it's not Dragon Age 2 or 3, you don't ride the Bull :M

I can tell what's the worst part about SoD writing is - 99% of plot is completely irrelevant

Here is the actual plot which is relevant and will matter in BG2, it happens in last 10 minutes of SoD:
Irenicus kills Skie (duke's daughter), blames you, you go through trial, get jailed, Irenicus orchestrates your escape via Imoen, then captures you

That's the relevant part which would matter in SoA. The irrelevant part is other 1790 minutes of fabricated plot about Shining Lady/Crusade/new Beamdog characters whom you will never meet again or hear about again.

Even if we compare BG1 to BG2 at least BG2 brings back old characters and ToB even brings back Sarevok.

All this unless Beamdog makes Shadows of Amn Enhanced Edition of Enhanced Edition.

That's what I don't like about writing anyway, which turns mediocre fairly quickly (just the fact that Bhaalchild follows orders and goes yessir all the time is boring).
Soldier boying and catapults like IWD2 act 1, meh
The whole soldiers und catapults make your running around seem like you don't matter at all. Wrong scale for 6 adventurers party.

Yeah well for party composition of SOD you'll just end up shoving all that stuff into bag of holding and forgetting about it. Would have been better if game generated a few of those depending what class you choose.

Jeuss fucking christ. Litterally
"Skie who?" I never used her ,probably never will. Stop trying to make a modern Bioware game. That is some grade A pen and paper DM don't know how to get players to Castle X so they put them on trial for killing Y/Stealing Y.

I...this is plain bad.

And they want to make Baldurs Gate 3...I heard rumours of PT:EE and IWDII:EE.

Then get some proper writers who do not fear to see SJW or PC people crying.

Their changes to the UI are useless 99% of the time, from what I've seen on LPs. The design for the UI changes is nonexistent, it looks like it was hacked together by a programmer with no design/art resources being spent on those features.

The writing in dialogues seems to fit in pretty good, from what little I've seen of the starting dungeon, actually. The tasteless hamfisted attempts at social commentary and writer mental jerkoff is hopefully just one sorry exception.

Yeah, I been really curious about their project and happy to see Baldurs Gate getting some love, thinking maybe all these kids on speed born in the 00's can see some proper games or play some older games and understand that most modern games are not so "diverse" as they all think, they all look the same, play the same and the obscurer games are seen as some weird hipster indie. Then Beamdog comes along and starts to cater to the modern generation of morons in the PC-SJW-LGBBQ community instead. They spread their tentacles all over and just have to corrupt and destroy evertyhing, claiming it for themslef. So yeah, I do hope that social commentary is just one exception!

I hope someone will let us mod it back to the normal UI.

That's probably because Bethesda want to make their own EEs. :0-13:

Dear god if they where allowed to make it and removed all "unfiting for modern day" references, sex, drugs and violence. Jeebus. Amber Scott on that project with Gaider? Nah just no!

Also Bethesda said no to this I heard, as if it matters. Bethesda has already ruined the setting anyway.

A codex review would be hilariously good content for the site. Make it so...

We're working on a review, but I don't think it's going to be hilarious.

To be fair you interact with her during the game a lot.
But yes, it feels in many ways just like BG2 where they take Imoen from you and that's your bait, and you can't do anything about that.
But they did't really have much of a choice. In the end some harsh railroading with cutscenes was bound to happen because of what happens in BG2.

It just could have been more elegant. Personally, I would focus events between BG1 and BG2 more on what personally happens with Bhaalchild, his companions, politics of Baldur's Gate city itself (city adventure maybe?), learning more about Bhaalchild history, Gorion (meeting old Gorion party members even?), Harpers, Bhaal legacy, and then last parts of the game running from persecution and Exile.

I mean, why not return to Candlekeep, bury Gorion's remains at least; and then secret Temple of Bhaal (which serves as more of a side distraction) could have been a megadungeon and focus of the game instead.

Sorry about that! I like to create chaos! :)
