Honestly, they look okay but not much more. Original Sin looks beautiful but almost bit to bright. But there is decent or okay cartoon and then there is WoW cartoon. Hell I think cartoon is a bad word for it to.

Stylized.

This is a bit of a weird tangent considering that SoD's black-outlined BG character models look nothing like WoW.

You know there were points in the middle ages where jews were accepted in Europe, right? Depending on the pope they were accepted or expelled from Rome and they had a pretty good time in the early middle ages. Also painting all of history as anti-homosexual is a bit ridiculous considering how faggy Greeks and Romans could be. Hell, even celts were fags.

Yes sure, but that is way diffrent from transgender and most fantasy is middle ages and not the Ancient era of Greece.

Well not cartoony but they look so ill fiting. That big border is plain ugly to. Like they are the wrong size for the game and end up super pixelated. An eye sore.

You know watching Shane's lets play o this an i'm amazed by all retard friendly features, I mean fuck me its like games a fucking carer wipin drool off o players chin an tellin em how to wipe their arse, how fucking thick do devs think their audience is to need all this handholding? I mean maybe its just me being an old fuck, an growin up wi games where you weren't talked down to or had your hand held constantly, but either devs o game are as thick as shit or they think players are.

Leaves a bad taste in me gob, i'd thought i'd be used to it by now wi all quest markers an game playin itsen features that have been introduced over last few decade, guess i'll never get used to this shit.

Why is it that when I import my character they are stripped of all their gear?

Save import is working. Just not character importing.
Also when I import a final save of a BG1 game, where 4/6 crew died in the final battle... The ones who died lost their gear to the temple grounds. Serves them right, I suppose. Can't even buy basic weapons and armor for them at the start.

The gem- and potion containers also disappeared for whatever reason.

But I heard you get stripped of your stuff a bit into the game anyway, so maybe I'll just go forward...

The problem with that is, the players are thick as shit. :negative:Try looking up any title the Codex is generally approving of on another forumsand you'll see what we're up against.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire
As I said before. I would not lift a brow at all had it been in a modern setting or sci-fi but in a darker fantasy world I always find it very silly. Europeans used to burn people for being jews, women, sleeping with animals and god knows what. And most fantasy is inspired by the old world. And if they can toss rocks on a man for having green skin and fangs, they can probably toss rocks on a person saying they have a vagina, mentally but clearly is male. "I bet that weirdo sniffed the alchemists bottles bit to much!"

Also if you want some historical examples of sleeping with animals you should look up Gerald of Wales and Irish horse sacrifice rituals. Quote is from Wikipedia

There is in a northern and remote part of Ulster, among the Kenelcunil, a certain tribe which is wont to install a king over itself by an excessively savage and abominable ritual. In the presence of all the people of this land in one place, a white mare is brought into their midst. Thereupon he who is to be elevated, not to a prince but to a beast, not to a king but to an outlaw, steps forward in beastly fashion and exhibits his bestiality. Right thereafter the mare is killed and boiled piecemeal in water, and in the same water a bath is prepared for him. He gets into the bath and eats of the flesh that is brought to him, with his people standing around and sharing it with him. He also imbibes the broth in which he is bathed, not from any vessel, nor with his hand, but only with his mouth. When this is done right according to such unrighteous ritual, his rule and sovereignty are consecrated.

Why do the character models look so crappy? They seem like they're filtered through some shitty filter and they also have an annoying black contour like they didn't know how to properly crop the models or something. Is this the same in all EE versions?

You can deactivate the black lines but the resolution is blurry as fuck. I haven't found a way to change the resolution to your liking. You can only zoom in which causes the blurriness or play with your desktop resolution (obviously tiny men on the screen then).

I really hope I'm missing something here or it's ridiculess.

So you cannot pick a resolution to play in? Like the Widescreen mod let you do 10 years ago?
Nope. To get the same effect as the decade-old widescreen mod, you need to disable UI scaling and change your desktop's resolution to whatever you want to play in. I use 1440x900 for a 24" 1920x1200. To make it a bit less cumbersome, you can write a batch file that changes your desktop resolution, launches SoD, and wijll revert your desktop resolution when SoD is closed.

I suggested a way to select a non-scaled resolution a year+ but got nowhere with it.

Nah the easier way is to not play the EE. This is some bush league programing by these losers. I mean how incompetent can you be?

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Divinity: Original Sin 2 A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath
EDIT: After searching in some threads it seems changing resolution doesn't seem like it's supported from Beamdog since the first releases of their "Enhanced" editions which makes me guess they don't intend to fix that ever. Disappointing.
I really hate developers who try to limit what I can and can't do with my machine. That's almost like the "This site is viewed best in IE6" disclaimers...

If you want to play the game at a lower resolution, try the following (for nVidia GPUs):
1. Go to NVIDIA Control Panel, from the Windows Control Panel.
2. In the NVIDIA Control Panel, go to "Adjust desktop size and position"
3. In the "Scaling" tab select "Aspect ratio"
4. In the "Perform scaling on:" dropdown choose "GPU" and check "Override the scaling mode set by games and programs"
There should be some analogous settings for AMD cards.

Then set your resolution for BG:EE through any config tools available. I don't own the BG:EE so I don't know. If there are no such options:
1. Maybe just skipping the above steps and reverting your desktop resolution to something lower would force the game to run in that?
2. Maybe having done the above steps and lowering your resolution through the "Screen Resolution" in the Control Panel before playing would force the game to run in a lower res?
3. Maybe using the "Size" tab in the NVIDIA Control Panel to resize your desktop resolution would do the trick? This allows you to set up an almost completely custom resolution, checking if your card/display will support it, so you can't mess things up.

Old Classics are Old Classics for a reason. Thinkering with them to "modernize" like this is not helping.
Their changes to the UI are useless 99% of the time, from what I've seen on LPs. The design for the UI changes is nonexistent, it looks like it was hacked together by a programmer with no design/art resources being spent on those features.

The writing in dialogues seems to fit in pretty good, from what little I've seen of the starting dungeon, actually. The tasteless hamfisted attempts at social commentary and writer mental jerkoff is hopefully just one sorry exception.

Holy shit, there's a lot of casuals waking up in that thread.
I have to agree with this. I've been replaying a lot of older bioware games and wow I don't know why I thought they had good writing when I was younger.

Every single game is unbelievably cheesy and hammy with the dialogue and writing. KOTOR1 and Jade Empire being the most guilty of this.

Lots of other talk about characterization being one dimensional, etc.

I too get very upset when a random NPC that's about as important to anything as the leather codpiece I found on a goblin five levels ago says he or she got a sex change in a world where the magic to do that shit is so common that a belt that changes your gender is sent around as a gag to fuck with people.

Oh wait no I don't because I'm not an insane faggot obsessed with internet identity politics.

About the black lines - they are awful, I think we have enough games riding the cartoony wagon and that aesthetic became banal like 10 years ago.

Someone need to kill the cartoony wagon as much as someone need to kill the modern military shooters with their colours of grey, brown and puke.

You two know very little about art.

Cartoony games always age better than anything that fails at photorealism.

Go fuck yourself.

Diablo 1 looks better than Divinity Original Sin after 20 years

If you recruited Khalid in BG1, only to immediately throw him to the hobgoblins (I suspect most of you did), then watch out: A plot mandated Level Drain effect will kill him before you get the chance to recruit him, due to him being imported at Level 1. He is kind of plot relevant; it's possible to continue without him, but that forces you to complete his part of the MQ in a... suboptimal way. It is possible to bump his level up with EE Keeper to 2, which will suffice to save him.

Small bug 4 you, I believe you'll need to write a new script for turning adamantine items to ash; if you save bunch of drow in Underground River and they end up on surface, then kill them, you can get yourself a bunch of +3 long swords and drow chain mails and they never get destroyed. I had Jaheira run in neat drow mail with -casting time for last part of the game.

Also, will you ever change Larloch Drain&Vampiric Touch script from heal+damage to something else so players won't be able to drain health from barrels and doors?

I heard they snuck SJW insanity into the game, can anyone confirm?
People reaction is blown up out of proportion, it's not Dragon Age 2 or 3, you don't ride the Bull :M

I can tell what's the worst part about SoD writing is - 99% of plot is completely irrelevant

Here is the actual plot which is relevant and will matter in BG2, it happens in last 10 minutes of SoD:
Irenicus kills Skie (duke's daughter), blames you, you go through trial, get jailed, Irenicus orchestrates your escape via Imoen, then captures you

That's the relevant part which would matter in SoA. The irrelevant part is other 1790 minutes of fabricated plot about Shining Lady/Crusade/new Beamdog characters whom you will never meet again or hear about again.

Even if we compare BG1 to BG2 at least BG2 brings back old characters and ToB even brings back Sarevok.

All this unless Beamdog makes Shadows of Amn Enhanced Edition of Enhanced Edition.

That's what I don't like about writing anyway, which turns mediocre fairly quickly (just the fact that Bhaalchild follows orders and goes yessir all the time is boring).
Soldier boying and catapults like IWD2 act 1, meh
The whole soldiers und catapults make your running around seem like you don't matter at all. Wrong scale for 6 adventurers party.

I also dislike how game constantly throws at you some obscure specialist items aka +1 thac0, +4 thac0 if you're kensai (not an actual item, but you get it), or an armor only for a goblin companion
I lost count how many items for bards I got. But where do you find a kensai companion, or why would you carry a bard in BG?

Fairly certain this is attempting to compensate the lack of support for those classes/kits and give incentive to playing them. These items will apparently show up again somehow scattered accross BG 2.

There were already a few of these in the original games, but the harp selection, for example, was always pretty lackluster. I personally like specialized items.
Yeah well for party composition of SOD you'll just end up shoving all that stuff into bag of holding and forgetting about it. Would have been better if game generated a few of those depending what class you choose.

I'm still mystified why Codextards still bother with this Beamdog shit. All you need to "fix" the originals (if fix them you must) is Sword Coast Stratagems plus Tutu (with original UI and original sprites mods) for BG1 if you want to play it on the new engine (fuck BG trilogy, just keep the two games separate). That's it. All the shit i've seen from the EEs is questionable at best and complete shit at worst. And this "expansion" looks to be a fucking disgrace as well.

And now i'm reading they don't even sell the originals on GoG anymore. Are you fucking kidding me. :hmmm:

This is all I need to know about Beamdog's vomit of a game.

It is everywhere nowadays. Especially in movies when they show a dick in your face every now and then or a sex scene from 2 guys. They want to promote the fact that being gay or different it's cool. No it's not!
