I don't mean to bore you with my fucking life, but I'm having a blast with this game helping me to revitalize some old Rusky friendships. I keep posting screenshots from the game to them and asking if I get it right, and it's kinda hilarious. One, who is reading Infinite Jest in a long awaited translation that has just been released, has even said that this stuff is better than what this dummy of a translator has made David Foster Wallace to be in Russian. If that's not the best (and wacky/zany at the same time) compliment, I don't know what is, lmao.

This may sound a bit cliche/idiotic, but Atom is probably the best video game experience I have had in the recent like five years. I could have said much more but let's leave it at that. I just hope that Atomboy and the team get some sweet monies on top of their daily expenses from the sales. Cheers, my dudes, you deserve that!!

The development team and the support for the game post release is night and day difference to the shit show that is insomnia. Wish more rpg developers were like these guys.

I like how having a bottle of vodka with an autopsist yields 16 experience, but agreeing to him putting some date rape drugs in it gives you 500 extra exp. Simulating existential experiences like there's no tomorrow. Gotta get as fucked up as this perestroika by nuclear annihilation allows!!
Finally a real depiction of the post-apocalypse. I kind of enjoy its more serious and darker tone compared to Fallout games.

I have been playing it now since release and I am really suprised how good it is. It feels llike the more "fucked up" darker version of Fallout 1 without the satirical elements. The atmosphere in this is top notch and really manages to make you feel uneasy. Combat is challenging to the point of being frustating, my char is now level 6 and I still feel weak and helpless.

Oh dang, dude. When I'm playing ATOM, I feel like the sleeping Lovecraftian person from Krasnoznamenny. If I were to bore the local folk with more academic bullshit, I'd compare the game's texts to derrida's hauntology. It's the perfect personal fucking ghost. Every little line of text just assaults you with fleeting images and feelings and sounds and memories of Russian culture. It's just infused with it. It really boggles my mind how some people can discuss things like character builds or weapons before mentioning the somnambulist fever you experience while reading the textual part of the game.

This game is like an artifact that you get from inside a STALKER's anomaly. Gotta dive in.

Atomboy

Outside of crit and few quests what else does luck do? Am I missing a lot by having it at 1? Or do you suggest leaving it 4-5?

How does one learn new crafting recipes in this game?
Does improving tinkering or technology unlock new stuff? Blueprints or trainers?
Of course I could try just experimenting, but that would lead to save scumming.

You can unlock new recipes by buying survival guides from the kippah man in krasnoznammenny or from some other guy in the ship city to the north. Or you could experiment... The recipes don't make much sense, though. And I don't think wrong recipes consume items.

The thing is that there are some low level TIRE- or NAIL-based low level armour, but it's kinda hard to guess how to make them. I wouldn't feel bad for looking it up tbh.

there are actually '' quests/flavor '' in some random encounters.

i liked some of them better than the majority of the city ones i've seen so far.

at least for now no punishment for dumping END to 2 besides the obvious combat/hp. then again i doubt i'd survive the early random encounters even with decent end
