I see, this must be the toxic positivity thing again.
That's just another phrase for "some have the power, others don't."

Nobody would give a shit if the protagonist was a Japanese peasant who was treated as a joke by most samurai but then through hard work managed to get to the top. That would be considered a cool underdog story.
it's literally life story of hideyoshi. but unlike "famous" yasuke he actually achieved something.
next: "hideyoshi wuz called monkeh by ebul raycis japanese BECAUSE HE WUZ BLAK!"

"Assassin's Creed Red" was supposed to have a Japanese assassin named Yamauchi Taka, already introduced in Assassin's Creed Memories in 2014, but then he was discarded because Asians are considered "white" and therefore they don't get DEI funding
America quite literally should be glassed

Leftists will blame anything and everything but the core issue: the elevation to knighthood of a guy that was a joke and treated as such by actual Samurai.
No, its the fact that he's a nigger.

Yasuke as a character is shit because he's not Japanese. He doesn't belong there.
I will say, you fight him in Nioh 2 (or was it Nioh 1?). And he's treated as a samurai for a fun boss fight. Maybe this is different because he is not the main character and it is sort of a nod in that game. Maybe when white people do it is blows ass cheeks because it's hard not to see some agenda, I dunno.

It would really be the best if they sell off the company. We'll spend a few years without any of their wokeshit franchises and the audiences will find that they don't miss Ubisoft at all.

Especially if it meant that Dark Messiah would be sold at GOG. No wait, it would make it abandonware? Eh, at the moment nothing would change.

Lol, I don't care if this is true, it's too funny. And it sounds dumb enough to be true to boot.

This guy's source said the first time they showed the black samurai he was breaking down a grocery store, the point was to demonstrate breakable objects in the new version of the engine

In addition, Shadows allegedly has 7% of the preorder numbers that Valhalla did. Way to go people, the organic boycott is the best boycott.

But the best part is that the "source" says Ubi decided to go with a black main character in the next AssCreed in the context of George Floyd's killing. Apprentely the suits believed they will be responding to current year sentiments among some market segment which they still believe exists.

Most notably regarding Shadows, apparently cutting the black guy out is on the table, but would require a lot of work, because most of Act 1 (which is on rails) involves him as the main character. They are still looking for ways to reduce his presence.

"Play your backlogs" seems to be the new greeting among gamers.

The whole thing sounds like this guy is getting trolled by his "sources".
E: Also, in one of his previous videos about this he was riding Schreier's dick, which indicates he's actually mentally retarded.

Yeah, it's a "source", and that's all we get to know. The guy has around 280K subscribers, so it seems realistic that he would get tipped off by an actual insider.

I believe the stuff about Shadows getting delayed because some of the developers are needed to help on another game, not because Shadows is under heavy rework. Corporations don't take easily decisions about adding costs like that, especially when good sales are not in the cards. I believe that Ubisoft are still hoping they have an ace in the hole with some upcoming game. I believe they are enough out of touch to think a black samurai AC game would somehow get swallowed. I tend to believe that much of the talanted and competent developers have left and ubi is counting more and more on outsourced work in the areas where they can't fake results - the technical ones like assets production, maybe even area design and game engine development.

I believe that the "creative" departaments are a cesspool of deranged manchildren and spinster cat ladies, but I don't believe doubling down on wokeness is the company's policy, official or unofficial, in the wake of the current backlash. Who in a real company would take responsibility for such a decision? You might say "they've got bailout options" but these also come with a lot of pain attached. That story sounds more like a coping mechanism from the hacks who are scared they will get kicked out. "We're just going to change the marketing and we're going to own the chuds by still selling them wokeshit" is just not how it works, in any market. This sounds like water cooler talk that the source is exaggerating into something significant. Same about the comments that Rogue would be considered as the "Star Wars RDR".

IMO, if they've killed the preorders, it doesn't matter if they make edits to the game, still no one will buy it. It's going to get heavily memed as soon as it's out. Ubi's best hope is that it gets forgotten like Starfield.

That Hexe will turn out to be gurl powr slop, is something I could nave told you the minute I heard about it, no insider sources needed.

Well, there is no way in hell they are cutting Yasuke in any way shape or form from the game because he is what they are trying to sell and anyone claiming otherwise is just grifting for attention. Ubisoft is going to wait and use homie history month as a crutch to hard sell the game knowing that any criticism will be drowned out by blue haired people screaming racism at the top of their lungs. But the most likely thing to happen is that the playing field will become even more crowded in the new year with games to play and that most people either end up playing Kingdom come 2, or more likely wait for monster hunter and AC becomes lost in the noise.

Monster Hunter is almost certainly going to blow out their competition roundly. No one in February is going to beat MH.

Even if Ubisoft hadn't screwed the pooch with the Yasuke fiasco the game would still be clobbered by Monster Hunter. That's why Ubisoft wanted the game out long before Monster Hunter came. It's why they're hiding behind it now. Competing against Monster Hunter is one rung below Pokémon. Unless you're Mario, or Zelda, you're not winning that fight.

Also, classic Codex insularity shines again it seems. You guys are giving way too much credit to KCD2. KCD2 is not even a player in this race. The devs knew they were not going to even have a chance against Monster Hunter, they're not even trying. The game appeals to a specific subset of nerds who are likely to buy both MH and probably another RPG that suits their brand of autism: KCD2 is that second choice.

I was going to say that too, but KCD reached 6 million copies accross platforms, and it's reasonable to expect KCD2 will improve on that. Given Origins and Odyssey (Valhalla was an outlier) reaching around 10 million copies, a failing AC Shadows could end up in the same ballpark.

because he is what they are trying to sell
First off, the allegation is that they are considering reducing his exposure and toning down his woke tone. The main problem is that a lot of voice lines will have to be re-recorded. Outright erasing him is not considered likely even by the so called source, so let's not get disingenious.

Upon watching it a second time: the source is "skeptical" that the afro-samurai will be swapped. The source says that ubi had a japanese character for a protagonist and actually swapped the japanese for the black one in 2020. And that japanese character is grounds to speculate that Ubisoft might reintroduce him, diminishing "Yasuke"'s role.

Also, the leaks actually begin with the statement that the game is not being delayed to February, but that it's being declared delayed to February, with a further delay completely possible. That's with regard to attempts to gauge how it will do in February - it likely won't be released then.
