Ark 2 is gonna be pretty divisive (third person only with Soulslike combat, primitive only, no Tek) so they're releasing this to support it in the long-term similar to Path of Exile coexisting with Path of Exile 2.

Releases today with mod support with the Island map, all other expansions included will be patched in over the next couple months. Previous owners gotta buy it again.

Woah, what a surprise, who would have guessed that re-releasing an 7 year old game with less content than the original with massive optimization issues for 45 fucking euros could do that!

It went so well when they slapped the name "Atlas" on a heavily modded version of Ark and sold it as a standalone video game for 25€.

But don't worry, Ark 2 will have Vin Diesel on it, I'm sure it will be good, let's just buy that one too, you know, for family!

I've never played ARK before, but this got me interested in the original Survival Evolved. $15 gets you 8 years of content updates including nearly a dozen free DLC updates.
I booted up my own private dedicated server this weekend using the Lost Island DLC map and added a bunch of mods to it. I had a couple buddies connect to it and, so far, I'm having an absolute blast. I've played a few other survival games and I think I'm liking this the best. Just a ton of content to explore.

How does anyone think this is a graphical upgrade? The only difference I see is that they turned the bloom effects up to 11 which makes me want to put sunscreen on my eyes. All the models are in a light brown, the same color as the light-brown terrain. I can barely make them out. Who thought this was a good idea?

Everything looks like Fortnight now. Forests and jungles are no longer dark and creepy. I don't know, tree outlines are too distinct, taking away the mystery of what it is hiding.

I picked this up because I only had Scorched Earth and the expansions would've cost me as much as the remaster anyways. Significantly less janky than the original but it's still Ark.

Wish reddit didn't whine about Ark II+Survival Ascended being included (without expansions). I'm more interested in Ark II than this one.

But does it make the game good? :smug:
If you host a private server, mess with the settings and mod the shit out of it, its tolerable if survival games are your sort of thing.
