Xcom generally went downhill after UFO Defense. Play the first if you haven't

is there any reason why information about your units has to be kept at 0? does information confuse the console generation?

This was a PC only game. And how do you mean? There's bios, customization, health bars, ammo, armor, cth, etc.

There's a thread about the game in the strategy forum.
I haven't played it yet, but it seems like more of the same n comparison to the previous one. Which for me makes it a buy when discounted.

In the previous game you had buttons in the UI that displayed this info. It took me a while to realize that, actually :P I never felt the need to double check stuff since even accuracy was p. fucked up anyway.

Yeah, once you 'activate' a particular group of enemies, they'll re-position themselves.

YES!
I thought it was a good game worth buying but the non-combat part was a little light for me so I stopped playing and will play through once a long war type mod is released. I also thought the character development was a little too lite. Only two choices at every single level. I'm not sure if the vanilla last xcom was like this or if the expansion or long mod changed it or what, but I remember three choices on level up (which is still a little lite but 50% better than two choices).

iirc you only had two choices to level up and sometimes just one.

The long mod or the expansion changed it though, right? Or are my rose tinted glasses spraying mescaline into my eyes and creating vivid hallucinogenic fantasy memories?

So was the first (the very first) X-COM the best one? Or did the new ones managed to surpass it?

Ufo Defense has everything people think about when they say "x-com". Xenonauts is an almost exact copy of it (almost).
Terror from the Deep has a slightly different theme and it's more difficult, but it's more or less the same game. Apocalypse changed things around, and the other x-com games aren't even strategy games anymore.

How do smoke grenades work in Xenonauts? If they're like X-Com smokes, did they figure out anything smart to do with the UI to let you gauge how "thick" the smoke is?

I really miss the pictures and high quality videos of different alien perversion on human females. It was very important and touching feature from ufo

well, then it sucks.
There's a few mods that change the amount of info displayed on a mission as well as stuff that changes alien behavior after activation (one of the mods makes them run in random directions instead of optimal, the other completely disables the Reposition option).

I want Incubation 2.
Only they would fuck it up so nevermind.

Blue Byte work for Ubisoft now, imagine the abomination if they would make Incubation 2. Fuck no!

Xenonauts fails completely on briging the scary/gritty atmosphere of UFO, but it brings a lot of good features, small but good, still it fell flat for me after a while.

Xcom 2 its a ok, but wait for official patches first. Now its a pain.

Apocalypse is fucking awesome, even when you get to alien dimension and you got the right research, the difficulty disappears.

Wasn't Might and Magic X published by Ubisoft ? That was an ok game, it sold badly, got some bad press for all the bugs at release but wasn't a bad game all things considered in my opinion. Ergo, maybe Incubation 2 could happen. The original was a good game - a bit too "boardgamey" to my likes, some levels/enemies were more of puzzle challenges than tactical challenges but overall a sequel could be nice.

Who am i kidding - if they made it then it would become a cinematic real-time game with epic story about saving the universe (and gay sex probably...).
