The game seems interesting, also it looks like it has a really short budget though.
I was saying this long before anyone even knew the game existed. The guy who worked for Frictional Games and wrote the story for SOMA also wrote the story for this game. For those not in the know SOMA has some of the best storytelling of any video game ever. Yeah, kind of a big deal.

They could've at least fixed lady's badly lit hair before recording the in-engine footage.

Kinda jarring seeing hollywood actors (sign of a big budget) in a game with such low-ish production values. Makes it look like a AAA game from 2012 or something.

Remember how happy we were in 2012?

You know, I find it somewhat remarkable that Alone in the Dark, which wasn't even that good of a game to begin with, has spawned so many sequels and spinoffs. I can't imagine any motivation for this other than brand recognition, because for some unfathomable reason almost everyone's also heard of the title.

Yeah, the whole thing's a joke. Full game is probably going to be shit, too. The monster designs so far are pathetic, and there's all the subtlety of a 2023 walking simulator to look forward to.

Seperate stand alone story prologue is available now:

Another 18 GB demo for 20 mins of gameplay.

It's actually about 8 mins of the so called gameplay - and it's already padded by your inability to run. You go downstairs, press 'E' five times, and then you have to endure a 'preorder now' screen.
But the demo leaves a good impression on impending mouse issues in the menu - it's inactive for a short time when the menu loads, but you can use your kb, so it's sure some controller as a default device fuckup;
and video options - motion blur might be hiding under some advanced postprocessing options or something else entirely (who knows), but it cannot be disabled separately.
Oh, and the default setting DoF field effect is all over the place making things that you look at blurry.

Totally - D1P, I'm sold, I have full faith that the team will deliver.

Tried the demo, it's a 10 minute walking simulator (if you could run it would take 3 minutes), press E a few times, spacebar spam QTE at one point, it's over. Don't bother installing, if you wanna see what the game looks like just check out a youtube video.

Watched a video. The best part is how unintentionally funny is that the little girl you play as in this demo is unfazed at weird things such as people appearing or disappearing at will, a monster trying to kill her repeatedly, and her inability to leave her home.
Meanwhile, modern videogame protagonists get a heart attack when a door closes on its own.

I really want to be excited for this game, but the prologue made me so much less excited. It's plagued with stutters and a lack of options for the settings menu. You'd think that, by now, developers would add a motion blur toggle to the game.

Thankfully, it seems like the community manager was quite receptive on the Steam forums. Time will tell, but I hope that things get a little bit more polished than they are right now.

Vienna/Austria, August 1st, 2023: Have you ever wondered what's lurking in the dark? Maybe it's best not to turn around... Alone in the Dark got a new teaser trailer showing a little more of the horrors that await. In this case: the Dark Man!

Watch the teaser trailer here: https://youtu.be/UtrvT7aDL1s

Alone in the Dark is a love letter to the ground-breaking original that lets you experience a haunting story through the eyes of one of the two protagonists: play as either Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood in this re-imagination of the classic survival horror game where Psychological Horror meets Southern Gothic. Explore your environments, fight monsters, solve puzzles, and uncover the uneasy truth of Derceto Manor...

Deep in the 1920's south, Emily Hartwood's uncle has gone missing. Together with private investigator Edward Carnby, she embarks on a journey to Derceto Manor, a home for the mentally ill where something is lurking. You'll encounter strange residents, nightmarish realms, dangerous monsters, and ultimately uncover the plot of rising evil. At the intersection of reality, mystery, and insanity, an adventure awaits that will change your core beliefs. Who can you trust, what will you believe, and what will you do next?

Alone in the Dark is developed by Pieces Interactive in Sweden and will be coming to PC, Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation®5.
