Just a few minutes ago this was posted on the official Alien: Isolation's Facebook page:

I'm getting old and I rarely get excited for new releases. But this... this got me hyped.

Nice. Loved the first one, but could've been about 20% shorter though.

As long as they keep to the original feel and ignore NuAliens, this might not be terrible.

And hopefully they ignore all the stupid zoomlennial fucks like the Codex that complained about the game being "too long".

Edit: Speak of the devil

Yes, please give me LESS entertainment for my money.

I see CA are getting desperate and are now trying to revive a successful game that isn't Total War.

Also Isolation had a retarded story.

Wish the sequel had a new protagonist, because that story was irritating.

If it's real. Don't have a Facebook account, so can't confirm. Been so long that I'm suspicious.

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
It's not that the game was too long, it's just that the pointless stretching of the yarn went on for too long.

There were sections of the game which had no purpose in being so lengthy. The ending, for example, could have been more straightforward. I also still recall that section which were just four rooms in a square formation, yet the level design made them into the most convoluted obstacle course imaginable.

As far as I'm concerned this announcement comes far too late. They're at least five years behind the curve on this.

Also, one shudders to imagine what eldritch horror Amanda Ripley will resemble in today's DEI-infused gaming environment.

There was an awful comic book sequel series for the first one, I wonder if they will be following that or just ignoring it.

The original already stretched the concept to the absolute limit.
This one will be more of the same.
Not if they break free of the concept with aliens that can be destroyed. Make them costly and dangerous to destroy, with flying acid instantly killing you (or causing decompression, depending on where you are), the sounds drawing others and precious resources depleted. Could use the environment as well. Crusher presses, molting factories, raised containers... Put in some decent human AI. The were dumb, shooting at you even with the alien around. Add full VR support.

Still one of the best looking games despite of its age. Not to mention the scariest.
Hopefully it comes with a proper VR support this time around. The original VR support was incomplete and had to be enabled via a mod.

People complained about the length, but I think the actual issue was pacing.

As long as they keep to the original feel and ignore NuAliens, this might not be terrible.
Let's face it, they milked the original Alien dry in the previous game. At this point, they could probably use some variety to keep you on your toes.
I imagine the xenomorph could remain the way it was: stompy, indestructible motherfucker you need to avoid at all costs.
Then perhaps they could introduce the neomorph: silent, stalking, and just as deadly, but possibly less armoured, so it could be killed if you spot it soon enough.
Last but not least, there could be the abomination, filling the role of a more common cannon fodder enemy (like the working joes of the original).

They brought Al Hope, the original Creative Lead back for the sequel. There is hope.
I need to change my font. I read that as bringing back an "A.I." codenamed Hope. And letting it lead the creative direction. I thought, "Damn. This artificial intelligence thing's really gone places."

I checked again and it's a naturally intelligent man called Alistair Hope. Still exciting, but less so.

Yes, I have. Usually used by greedy corporations trying to get more money out of you in exchange for less product/service. Frequently used in conjunction with "Environmentally friendly packaging" or the even more cringe-inducing "Everything you need, nothing you don't".

Sure it had some pacing issues here and there. But the solution is to make those parts more interesting or relevant, not shorter.

I wasn't really referring to the main antagonist, more the atmosphere and setting. More sterile corridors of terror, less preachy engineers making nonsensical "revelations" that explain nothing, and definitely less manipulative killer androids.

The "It's too long!" crowd are astonishingly dumb. Length isn't the problem, as better games have shown many times, game quality is. Did it never occur to you that if the game was better you wouldn't want it to end, that it will leave you with a thirst for more? Your poor choices in video games has perhaps resulted in you never experiencing this phenomenon.

Alien: Isolation simply isn't that good. Not bad either, but the simps for it are annoying and dense.

Wrong. The game is very good, doesnt mean needs to be 50hours long. Its not an RPG.
