Gamera Interactive, who I believe are not only the Guardian of the Universe but also the Protector of Children, have released Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms on Steam. You can buy it for 10% off it's regular price of $34.99 via it's steam page right now. There's also some backer based DLC that you can also pick up. What is it? Apparently it's an isometric actiony souls-like RPG where you save the world. Which is fine, I guess? I don't know. So, here's a trailer:

  • A huge Single Player Campaign, feauring hours and hours of emerging contents
  • Play as human, a dwarf, an elf or a orc. NPC react to this choice with different dialogues and attitude
  • 12 memorable companions with their own backstories, ready to join or fight you during your journey
  • Local Cooperative Mode up to 3 players, working online through Remote Play and no extra copies needed
  • Competitive Mode to play against other champions
  • A unique, hardcore combat system, combining iso-view with skill-based action
  • A world-centered game: live the life of great warrior in an ever changing world reacting to your actions
  • Customize your character by choosing different Ways of Power, classes and skills
  • A huge world to explore, crafting, and ton of content to unlock
  • 500+ NPC, 250+ quests, 280+ locations to explore, 1200+ items
  • A ton of amazing boss fights against dragons, demons and other giant monsters

They seem pretty happy with that combat system. Not quite sure hardcore isometric skill-based action sounds like my cup of tea. Everything else sounds decent, but it does sound like there's a whole lot of that combat.

Thanks, Sukhāvatī!

The Present
I'm currently playing it. I will be able to check out the 1.0 release this weekend. I booted it up last night for a quick peek, but there didn't seem to be much change. This game is a mixed bag suffering from console-centric design and feature creep that gives it an identity crisis. There are some really good fundamentals though. I'll probably write a mini-review for this before the year is over.

Translation:

Mind numbing busy work for people who want complete escapism and fill their time with brain fully off
It's not. The player is guaranteed to hit the level cap by the time they complete even 1/3 of the content. All the crafting is very easily ignored. I take issue with a lot of the design in this game, but busy-work isn't among them. The game is primarily an action experience bordering arcade.

The lack of colour contrast is atrocious.
