Watching the LP'ers vids is way more aggravating than I had anticipated. I can't even imagine what it's like as a developer watching your game be "previewed" like this. They miss the easiest things. They don't understand game mechanics at all. One guy saw that a spell limited movement and he cast it upon an enemy unit. Next turn, he's worried that said enemy will go and destroy his archers or whatever. The unit, of course, can no longer move that far and only take two steps before stopping. "LOL, thankfully the AI is stupid." WTF. He literally just read what the spell does, and then forgot he cast it like thirty seconds later. Goddam retards. Many people are not equipping the items onto the characters, instead throwing them in the inventory. A of few the items one guy got as a reward for beating a Strong ruins was a huge chunk of research and other goodies. He was like meh I'll just sell it. WTF was the point of even taking a dungeon if you don't take the rewards which are clearly beneficial to you? One guy even got one of the special mounts and just had it sitting in his inventory. Another dude couldn't figure out why his mounted hero got butchered after watching two enemies attack it with the word: "POLEARM" coming up in bright text over and over as they attacked.

Fuck.

FUCK.

They need to concentrate on delivering their mandatory verbal diarrhea, you see. It's hard to do that AND play the game properly.

Why the fuck do people integrate themselves into their videos? No one wants to see your balding thirty-something year old ass deadpan at the screen.

God I can't wait for this, it looks so good. Not a fan of the classes which makes it hard to mix and match magic schools the same way you did in Master of Magic but meh, it's expected these days.

I've watched quite a few gameplay vids and I have to say I'm quite impressed with what I've seen. I still don't agree with all of the decisions that they made but overall it looks like a blast to play. I'm especially pleased with the way the random map generator works. From what I've seen it can create maps that are both good looking and functionally interesting. I can't wait for this game to come out.

Its just a shame that boxed version have steam key instead of being drm-free.

I wasn't really following this since I've never played the earlier games, but that gameplay video makes it look very very good.

One of the things that bothered me more about Warlock was that about midgame it started getting really hard trying to find out the different buildings on the map, specially if you weren't actively looking for them using your cursor, the neutral spawning ones were the hardest to find, same when trying to know if a certain terrain was ravaged by magic or deserted or anything. It would be cool if AoW had made something with the engine that made it easier to get information about the terrain from a quick glance, has there been any word on that? Couldn't see anything about it on the gameplay video, although the map didn't seem as crowded as in Warlock, for what it's worth.

Here's some Gameplay from the Beta by a Youtube Superstar: http://www.twitch.tv/angryjoeshow/b/510597831
What retard allowed angry joe to play the game before release?

All I know him from is his '5 Reasons Why Fallout 3 Kicks ass' video from when the game came out. I have no reason to view anything he produces. God knows why hes the new "paradox guy". I'd like to see him actually play a paradox game and shit himself because the games don't have interactive tutorials.

This might be a week one purchase for me if trusted reviews are favorable. I've been replaying AoW Shadow Magic in anticipation, and AoW is one of the few games my gf and I can both enjoy. THIS BETTER BE GOOD GOD DAMNIT. :x It has to be....it MUST be.

I'd appreciate it if you shared what these trusted reviews are. Spending a month finding a Youtuber who isn't a total failure of a human being, and then an hour or more of watching videos to get a proper impression of a game, is... My life is too fucking short.

But every reviewer I'm aware of only do critiques these days... Or rather, 9/10 of them do self-indulgent, self-important drama shit, deluding themselves into thinking it's game critique and somehow useful. And that's if we don't count the straight up PR regurgitators.

I would fucking love some trustworthy reviews.

"Trustworthy reviews" are what you get when you ask a friend if it's worth playing. Hopefully a friend who shares the same tastes as you.

Indeed. My friends who have more time and money than me to buy/download/play games are my reviewers. Barring that, a non-annoying LP that I can watch during lunch or something usually gives me a good enough idea.

In general, racial traits are inherent while class-specific skills and units are unlocked through construction and research.
Crimethink spotted. Age of Wonders racial traits are in fact social constructs imposed by patriarchyomancy.
