They REALLY want some of that Netflix money by turning the World of Darkness into a TV show.

Again.
I think there's an audience for that tbh. Not necessarily White Wolf fans (but them too), but people that liked shows like True Blood before it jumped the shark. So if it has similar aesthetics to that sort of show, but with a more coherent setting, it could be good. Not *great*, but I wouldn't mind something on the level of Stranger Things or what have you (a current year show with meh to ok writing, but good retro aesthetics).
The setting's got a LOT of potential, yes. But let's not pretend it cannot jump the shark if it is not cut off at the right moment. Sure, there's the politicing between the Camarilla, Sabbat and Anarchs... but then we get stuff like the Inconnu, the Antitribu, Thinbloods, the Tal'Mahe'Ra start showing up, several flavors of Baali, the various spinoffs of the main bloodlines in India and Africa, and so on. And that's before we get shit like Werewolves, Mages and Wraiths. Hell, the entire metaplot clusterfuck is exactly why they decided to axe the Old World of Darkness in favor of the New World of Darkness.

I don't blame them for trying to go this route though, streaming royalties are much more lucrative than the comparative pennies you make off of TTRPGs, which would then be relegated to essentially merchandise. It's just that with the size of the setting it has the potential to crash and burn so much harder.

Even though my background is not in writing, I do believe I could deliver one really good season of VTM. The potential of the IP is there, you just have keep it simpler and not get too in depth with some of the real garbage that is also part of the greater lore.

Again.

It really is a baffling failure that this doesn't exist.

They made a live action Altered Carbon show (years ago!) but no World of Darkness? What the fuck?

I would be somewhat interested in watching something like that if it was original but I think that if a streaming service were to show an interest it would be more likely to be something similar to the Critical Role cartoon adaptation but for LA by Night since that would be less of a risk and easier.

The map being small is hugely incline.
That's only the Downtown area. As far as I'm aware, they still haven't showed the other four districts.
Nope. That’s the whole map.

From one of the devs:
It's the whole map. What you can't see from the image is the countless alleys to sneak around in and the rooftops to watch over the city from on high.

I think this world is ridiculously small. I'm sure climbing walls and channels will spice it up a bit... but still.
That's a GOOD thing

Be careful what you wish for.

Like Wesp5 already said, the show adaptation was a complete enshittification of the original source material.

The Envoys weren't some fucking cult in the woods that got good in combat and everything else by communing with nature or balance or some other hokey-pokey nonsense. They were actually special forces trained by UN, extremely selective, and all of them forbidden from ever holding any sort of public office due to their training that made them adept at manipulation and what not.

And that's just the first step at where things went wrong. There was the usual "Let's turn this young, white blonde girl into a mixed-meat mutt with an afro", then there was the addition of a non-existent sister, when Rei was just a Yakuza enforcer from Harlan's World that knew Takeshi from way back. On and on this bullshit went.

So yeah, a World of Darkness adaptation would absolutely be fuck-all faithful to the source material. And let's be honest here, they'd only adapt V5 bullshit, which I have no interest in watching or reading.

The whole point of VTMB was tight hub areas enveloped by quest areas. This is true to the original

There was this show set in SanFran. Kindred: the Embraced. It was quite bad, mishandling many themes and concepts. But it does exist.

Yes, but if it's small as I think it is, the experience will start to look dangerously like Groundhog Day...

It somehow reminds me of Robocop Rogue City. They only had one small city hub map which you visited four times. In comparison Bloodlines had four original city hub maps which you visited one after another as the story unfolded...

I think so too. Bloodlines was condensed, but not that small if you counted the volume of all the rooms. Here we have flying on rooftops and some underground, but it will be difficult to get anything out of it. This worries me in that, judging from the trailers, this world is not very reactive and rather uninteresting. If we were to get an asset game in the bottled world, it would be an absolute disaster.

It's almost guaranteed that Dumpsterphyre will have some sectioned-off combat zones, and the rest of the game will be a literal walking simulator.
You don't say.
The icon above the health meter indicates if you’re in one of the
following areas:

• Masquerade – Represented by the sad drama mask, these areas have
the Masquerade in effect. If your character is caught using his powers
in these areas, you’ll cause a Masquerade violation (see the
Masquerade section).
Yea, that's exactly what this game won't have. Along with weapons.
But it will have Masquerade.

The city is populated with "civilians," unaware that you are a vampire walking among them. Whilst this may seem great to a vampire - free-ranged food on every street - it also comes with risk, as using your vampiric powers or feeding in front of witnesses can trigger a Masquerade breach, and while you are Sheriff, even you are not above the law and could have the court's Scourge sent to deal with you if you are reckless on the streets of the emerald city. So make sure to hunt like a vampire: stalking from rooftops, hunting in alleyways, isolating your prey and if you are observed, deal with witnesses swiftly.
It won't.
